Hossein Malek was an iranian master musician, one of the greatest player of the Santur. Leo Kupper who was his close friend, had already given us some extraordinary pieces that he had mixed with his own compositions for santur that he had created under the tutelage and in homage to his friend.

Hossein Malek was born July 17, 1925, in the popular neighborhoods of Tehran. He died in 1999 in the same town after an exile in Belgium. He was only two years old when he heard for the first time and discovered the Santur with emotion (play by the master Habib Samai who lived next door). He then had several other professors: Nurali Khan Borumand, Abolhassan Saba, and Shokro Ghamar. He enjoyed worldwide fame, playing in most countries of the world and leading an existence of particular intensity. During one special evening in '70, the Queen of England apologized to the other musicians she invited, saying that what she had just heard was so beautiful that she no longer wished to listen to anyone else.

This release is an outstanding showcase or Sarah Davachi's talents as a pianist, vocalist and composer. The first part of Perfume showcases her ability to find new expressions for solo piano, whilst the second adds her unique, deep-pitched expressive voice; a study in bold restraint. The final piece is the departure; an extended composition build around the interplay of two violins. No vibrato; just long notes and silence. This is a first class album.
